i have never understood this fascination with animals, at a time when human needs to be treated with some dignity (in few parts of the world), how can someone spend so much on dog and bitches!

Amit--I agree that people in this country are wrapped up in their pets in a way that is strange and unnatural. I know a woman who spent like $10,000 on medical bills for her dog. I'm pretty sure she's never donated a cent to a human being.
